Bay St. Louis Homes, Ridge to Shore
Spray foam insulation in Bay St. Louis works across some of the oldest housing on this part of the coast and some of the newest. French colonial roots show in the town's Catholic schools and Creole families, and older cottages near the bay sit alongside houses rebuilt after Katrina, which made its final landfall just west of the city in 2005 with a storm tide of more than 30 feet.
The ridge
A ridge along the old Highway 90 route on the west side of the city sits around 25 feet up, and it stayed above Katrina's surge. Because that higher ground was not flooded by the surge, some older houses there keep their original framing. Their attics often have thin or uneven insulation added over decades, and their crawl spaces may be vented and damp. We take a careful approach: seal and add fill in attics where access to old wiring matters, and encapsulate or foam under the floor.
Rebuilt and raised homes
Closer to the water, many homes went back up on piers. The open floor is the weak point, and closed-cell foam on the underside of the subfloor is the fix. Up top, these newer houses usually have the air handler in the attic, which makes roof deck foam worth pricing.
An older, part-time population
The 2020 census put the median age in Bay St. Louis at 48.6, and 22% of housing units were vacant, a number that includes second homes. Houses left closed in summer still need to stay dry; a sealed attic and floor help the AC keep humidity down. We can work with a property manager and send photos. Get a free estimate

Bay St. Louis Questions
Can you insulate an older cottage without tearing out plaster?
Usually yes. Attics and crawl spaces can be done from above and below. If you want the walls insulated, dense-pack fill through small holes is the usual approach rather than foam.
My house is raised. Do I need to insulate the floor?
If the floor is open to the air below, insulating it makes a real difference in comfort and humidity. Closed-cell foam is our usual choice there.
Do you work on second homes when the owner lives out of town?
Yes. We set access with you or a manager, send photos of the work, and give a written quote you can approve by email.
