Insulating Homes North of the Bayou
Spray foam insulation in DeLisle covers a quieter, more wooded side of the Pass Christian area. DeLisle sits on the north side of DeLisle Bayou and the Wolf River, sharing a ZIP code with Pass Christian but outside the city limits. It is old ground for the coast: French settlers named Bayou DeLisle around 1699, and Spanish land grants along the bayou date to 1781 and 1794.
Houses near the water
Homes close to the bayou and the river deal with damp ground and humid air most of the year. Crawl spaces here can stay wet, which shows up as musty smells, sweating ducts and cupping floors. Encapsulation, with a heavy liner, sealed vents and insulated walls, keeps that moisture out. Where a house is raised on piers, closed-cell foam under the floor does the job instead.
Wooded lots and outbuildings
DeLisle has bigger lots than the town across the bayou, and that means garages, workshops and metal storage buildings. Steel buildings under trees still heat up in summer and drip when humid air meets cool panels. Closed-cell foam stops both.
The attic still matters most
As with most coastal homes, the ducts and air handler are usually overhead. Sealing the ceiling and bringing the attic to R-38 or better, or spraying the roof deck, is where most of the cooling savings come from. DeLisle Questions
My crawl space near the bayou stays damp. What can you do?
We check for drainage problems first, since standing water has to be fixed before sealing. Then a vapor barrier, sealed vents and insulated walls keep humid air and ground moisture out. Many sealed crawl spaces also need a dehumidifier.
Do you insulate shops on wooded lots?
Yes. Closed-cell foam on steel walls and roof panels keeps the building cooler and stops condensation dripping on what is stored inside.
Does the DeLisle side get the Mississippi Power rebate?
If Mississippi Power is your electric provider and the home is single-family, the ceiling insulation rebate may apply once the attic reaches R-38. Check your bill to see who supplies your power.
Is foam or blown-in better for my attic?
If the ducts and air handler are in the attic and leaky, foam on the roof deck often helps more. If the ducts are in good shape, sealing the ceiling and blowing in fill to R-38 or more usually costs less. We price both when both fit.
