Waveland: A Town of Newer Houses

Spray foam insulation in Waveland is shaped by how much of the town is new. Waveland was at the center of Katrina's landfall in 2005: the eyewall and a 26-foot surge almost completely destroyed everything south of the CSX railroad, and the rest of the city flooded heavily. Camille had already wrecked the same area in 1969, and recovery from that storm took nearly a decade. So most of the houses south of the tracks today were built after 2005.

South of the tracks

Newer homes here are often raised, with floors on piers or over open space. Floor insulation from below is a common job, and closed-cell foam is our usual pick because it handles moisture and seals at the same time. The attic still matters too: a newer house can have decent insulation but a poorly sealed ceiling and long duct runs.

North of the tracks

Homes on the higher ground flooded but more of them survived. Many are slab or crawl space ranch houses that have had repairs and partial insulation work over the years. These are classic seal-and-top-up attics, sometimes with old insulation that should be removed if it was ever wet.

Near Buccaneer State Park and Jackson Ridge

Andrew Jackson once owned land on what is now Jackson Ridge, much of which became Buccaneer State Park. Homes on the streets around it face the same Gulf air and humidity as the rest of the shore, and outbuildings there benefit from foam as much as houses. Get a free estimate

Waveland Questions

My Waveland house was built after 2005. Does it still need insulation work?

Often less than an older house, but many newer homes still have unsealed ceilings, leaky duct connections and exposed floors. We measure and tell you honestly if it is already in good shape.

Should old insulation that got wet in a past storm stay in the attic?

No. Insulation that has been soaked loses much of its value and can hold mold. We remove it, check the decking and framing, then reinsulate.

Do you insulate floors on homes raised very high?

Yes, though very tall homes may need a lift or scaffolding to reach the underside of the floor, which we include in the quote.
